What’s a snowkiting?
Could you remember the day when you kited for the first time in your life? Do you remember all those lively feelings from your childhood, sincere joy and all that simple pleasure received from the process of kiting? Romance of sky, rush for fly and flippancy are still alive in your soul however time had passed.
Since then goals and tasks have changed and the kites too. Starting and drawing of one-person kite seems to be an inexcusably simple task and the sky inhabitants have already received remarkable functional features of sports equipment.
Modern traction kites have form that resembles sports parachute with a host of rope ( usually 4 or 5 cords 25-30 m long). As the kites are drawn by these cords they can propel the rider and the board across the water (kitesurfing), over the ground that involves the use of a mountain board or landboard (landkiting) and of course over the snow ( snowkiting).
Thousands of people have already experienced this exciting kind of sport. The most brave-hearted conquer peaks and poles with a kite when the other enjoy drawing of a kite, speed, lightness and harmony while riding and improving personal skills. Everyone can try this kind of sport without any restrictions in age, so it can be children, students, the elderly and businessmen.
Snowkiting is the possibility to glide on snow or ice on ski, snowboard, skates or ice-buggy using the kite power. Usually people use traditional mountain skis or snowboard. There are different types of riding, as for example, to glide on ice, highlands, fields covered with snow without any specific purpose (free-ride) or to rush beyond the horizon with a strong purpose ( snow-kite marathon). And of course it will be great to use man-made terrain features such as rails, jumps, boxes, and innumerable other innovative features to perform tricks on (free-style).
Therefore such an activity as a kite drawing has deeply changed and become a kind of sport with its own meaning. But for the young adults and for the romantics the illusion of flying, joy of unity with sky and wind will always remain a real jam.

I would also add for myself that I’ve never been before at the kite-riding, so to say, under the canopy of kite =)
It’s really cool to spend your free time in the outside activities and I really appreciate such people. They differ from the main ruck, they know how to live well. Our kite-masters usually riding on the Kiev Sea, when they are in the city. After the conversation with one of them I understood a little bit the very core of the subject and looked on them with admiring envy. They say that in winter they usually ride in tundra and in summer in Vietnam or in the Philippines where they can meet such kiting freaks. They all know each other, communicate and go in for snowkiting.
Unfortunately I came there in the evening, but I managed to take some photos.
