Principle of work
In the first place go responsibility and punctuality. Being a scrupulous and accurate I’m rather demanding and responsible of all things in my life and try not to fail anybody and not to talk to the winds. All these characteristics stay with me in a photo too. So, I’m demanding of myself and of my assistants and responsible to my client.
While choosing a photographer for a wedding or a photo set people usually would like to see his works; it means not his best photos, but all the footage in order to understand a photographer’s level. And it’s actually right and logical. But there are also other important factors that usually emerge during the shooting or after it, when it’s time to give the photos.
It is a well-known fact that a number of photographers in our country has extremely increased and a so called top-segment of photographers also forges ahead from year to year. Everyone would like to make flashy and expensive photos, to become popular, to take pictures of beautiful top models and glamorous brides and not to overwork oneself. That’s why it’s rather difficult to understand even the segment of premium class.
Strange to say that in the process of choosing a photographer price takes a center stage. Very few prefer to meet a photographer initially, to talk to him, to understand whether they would like this particular person to be responsible for their one and only event. Because it will be unpleasant when to your personal event, into which you put your heart, efforts, nerves, money and tried to make it as beautiful, comfortable and unforgettable as possible, comes an inadequate photographer with an unpleasant appearance and who also has little contact with people around him. He will be a solecism in this company and it won’t be pleasing to your guests to see him the whole day long.
That’s quite another thing when your wedding photographer merges with the event and people around him and becomes a part of it. When he can make a joke about something, conciliate differences that emerge during the day and put all the details into consideration. It’s pleasant when he looks honorably and has sensible view of things.
One more moment of no little interest is a photo submission. Although all the terms must be spelt out in the contract, but some no-good wedding-photographers don’t keep to these contracts and detain submission of photos for a half of a year or even more. Of course nobody will tell you about it on first acquaintance and it’s more difficult to fish for this information than for a good portfolio. Nevertheless try to find feedback about him.
Equipment I’m working with
A lot of people ask me which equipment I do use in the process of shooting. Frankly speaking, I think it’s not the most important criterion of choosing a wedding-photographer. But when it is comfortable for a photographer to work with a special kind of equipment and he sticks to his business, it only helps him to achieve the best results.
I use Panasonic equipment but I also have nothing against Canon (very often people ask me about it)) Both of them are good and have their benefits and drawbacks but for historical reasons I prefer Lumix.
